Is unconditional love fir a Christian to aim, what to do if the other party is so against you?

I have a priest friend, hepreaches me about love and God's love. I am helping him and his people in a very poor country, but he does not show any himself, he just takes. He does not even contakt me with an SMS when help hals arrived. I am not selfish at all but what should I expect and how much should we love each other as human beings to love and care for each other.
